  2. Dr Stewart GreedyDr Stewart Greedy BVSc, MANZCVS(Surgery)

    Stewart grew up in Melbourne and attended the University of Melbourne, graduating from the Veterinary School in 1995. His first job as a new graduate was here at the Ballarat Veterinary Practice. He spent three years working in the small animal clinic at Sturt Street, before leaving to gain veterinary experience in the UK and to travel. Stewart worked in various practices throughout the UK from Newcastle-upon-Tyne on the northern border, to Hastings on the southern coast as well as Yorkshire, Surrey and London. Stewart returned to Australia and recommenced work at Ballarat Veterinary Practice in July 2000, continuing to work as a companion animal clinician and surgeon.

    In July 2002, Stewart gained membership to the Surgery Chapter of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists by examination in Small Animal Surgery. Stewart joined the partnership in July 2007 and continues to enjoy veterinary work, particularly all aspects of surgery including soft tissue and orthopaedics. Stewart is the resident veterinarian on radio 3BA and for statewide drive on local ABC radio, and in his leisure time is a keen musician and golfer.

  3. Dr Aaron LuttrellDr Aaron Luttrell BVSc

    Aaron graduated from his Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree at the University of Melbourne in 1999. Since then he has been working as a small animal veterinarian at the Ballarat Veterinary Practice. During his time at BVP Aaron has developed a special interest in avian and exotic animal medicine. This interest stems from Aarons childhood interest in birds and other small pets, having always had aviaries of budgies, canaries, finches and cockatiels, and cages of guinea-pigs, rabbits, and the odd turtle pond. His current menagerie consists of an aviary of canaries (which he is trying to extend but has to contend with his wife and kids need for space in the backyard), three rabbits (aptly named Jack, Peter and Sarah by his children) and a domestic shorthaired cat named Smitten. Apart from his interest in animals Aaron has recently dabbled in the sport of golf and enjoys following the Brisbane Lions with his kids in the winter months.

  5. Dr Richard LawrenceDr Richard Lawrence BVetMed

    Richard was born in the UK and trained at the Royal Veterinary College, qualifying in 1980. From there, Richard spent 5 years in busy rural practice learning the ropes and gaining experience in all aspects of general practice. In 1980 he was offered a position to manage a small animal clinic in Melbourne and left the UK for a 1 year sabbatical abroad. 28 years later he is still in his adopted country and has been a partner of the Ballarat Veterinary Practice for 15 years.

    Richard works at the Wendouree Veterinary Clinic spending most of his work hours there but also utilizes the main practice hospital facilities to pursue his interest in the more challenging surgical procedures. Apart from his daily work at the clinic Richard has also co-authored a book (Dogs for Dummies).

  6. Dr Lynda KitchinDr Lynda Kitchin BVSc

    Lynda studied Veterinary Science at the University of Sydney, graduating in 2003. She then made the move to Ballarat in 2004 and has happily worked at Ballarat Veterinary Practice since. Lynda enjoys all aspects of veterinary science, especially the medical diagnostic side. Outside of work Lynda enjoys reading but also likes to get out and about walking her Cocker Spaniel, Indiana and during summer playing softball.

  7. Dr Ruth DuncanDr Ruth Duncan BVSc

    Ruth completed her Bachelor of Veterinary Science in 1997 at Massey University in Palmerston North, New Zealand. She then jumped the ditch and worked for 3 years in Mildura, before traveling and working in the UK for 12 months. Having met and married a local farmer she moved to Ballarat and began working at Ballarat Veterinary Practice. Ruth has a keen interest in all aspects of veterinary science with a special regard for the many behavioural problems our pets can develop. At present she is working part time as she is enjoying raising her family and helping on the farm.

  8. Dr Louisa JohnsonDr Louisa Johnson BVSc, MANZCVS(Internal Medicine)

    Louisa graduated from The University of Melbourne Vet School in 2001, with Honours. Since then she has worked in Melbourne and Hong Kong in both general practice and emergency clinics. Over the years, she has developed a keen interest in all aspects of veterinary care, but has a special passion for internal medicine and ultrasonography. In 2005 she successfully passed examinations with the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in the area of Small Animal Medicine and utilises this knowledge to look after our unwell and older patients, such as those with kidney disease and cancer. Louisa has been at the Ballarat Veterinary Practice for 6 years in a part time capacity whilst raising her young family. She loves keeping up to date in the veterinary world by attending conferences, seminars and the clinic's bi-monthly journal club. Louisa's other interests include enjoying family life with her husband Andrew and their children, travel, gardening and telling funny stories.

  9. Dr Fiona AndersonDr Fiona Anderson BVM&S

    After four years working in the finance industry Dr Fiona Anderson returned to university as a mature age student to pursue a career in Veterinary Science. Upon graduating from Murdoch University in Western Australia she commenced work at the Ballarat Veterinary Practice in December 1999. With a keen interest in small animal medicine and dermatology, Dr Anderson has recently returned from maternity leave to take up a part time position within the practice

  10. Dr Horace TangDr Horace Tang BVSc

    Horace grew up in Hong Kong and moved to Australia to pursue his study in 2005. After graduating from his Bachelor of Veterinary Science degree at the University of Melbourne, he joined the companion animal team at the Ballarat Veterinary Practice in January 2011. Horace has a particular interest in diagnostic imaging and senior pet care. He is currently studying veterinary acupuncture, and hopes to apply his knowledge to practice in late 2014.

    Outside of work, Horace enjoys travelling overseas to experience different cultures. He also loves watching movies, listening to music and dancing. He made his musical theatre debut in Ballarat in 2013, performing in BLOC's production of "Anything Goes" the musical. Horace is the proud owner of a three-legged cat named Thomas, which he adopted from the clinic after being rescued from gunshot injury.

    Louise graduated from The University of Melbourne Veterinary School in 2001. Her first job was at the busy Melbourne headquarters of the RSPCA where she quickly brushed up her surgical and medical skills. After this, she worked in England for a year and then returned to locum throughout many clinics in Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula. After settling down to work in Sunbury for a number of years, she then went on maternity leave to raise her son. She joined the Ballarat Veterinary Practice in 2015 after moving to Ballarat with her family. Louise enjoys practising all aspects of veterinary care, but particularly enjoys internal medicine, ophthalmology and ultrasonography. Louise's other interests include spending time with her husband Daniel and son Sebastian, travel, movies, food and catching up with friends.

  13. Dr Annie CartyDr Annie Carty BSc, DVM

    Annie grew up on the coast in Warrnambool. Moving to Melbourne after school, she completed a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Melbourne University.
    Tired of the busy city life, she made the move to Ballarat to begin her veterinary career in January 2016.
    With a keen interest in diagnostic imaging as well as small animal medicine, Annie is looking forward to working with clients to maintain a great quality of life in all of her patients.
    Outside of work, Annie loves visiting new places, taking her Jack Russell "Jack" to the beach and spending time with friends and family.

  14. Dr Melissa HutchisonDr Melissa Hutchison BVSc

    Dr Melissa Hutchison obtained her Bachelor of Veterinary Science from the University of Melbourne. Mel worked at a mixed animal general practice in Woodend before starting an Oncology Internship in October 2014 at the Victorian Animal Cancer Centre which she completed in March 2016.
    In her spare time Mel enjoys spending time with her fur babies, the extremely large black cat Elmo, crazy terrier cross Lexie and her cheeky thoroughbred Dephi.

  15. Essie Jansen DVM

    Essie completed a Bachelor of Wildlife and Conservation Biology in 2012, before completing the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine at Melbourne University, graduating in December 2016.
    Originally for Bacchus Marsh, she has moved 45 minutes down the highway to Ballarat to join the BVP team!
    Essie enjoys all aspects of being a veterinarian, but has a particular interest in wildlife medicine and dermatology.
    In her spare time, Essie enjoys camping with family and friends, swimming, and has recently taken up rock climbing to challenge herself!

  17. Paul DempseyPaul Dempsey B App Sc. Ag., MBA.

    BVP Chief Operating Officer

    Paul comes to BVP with over 15 years experience in senior management and leadership roles in the Agribusiness and retail sectors. With skills in general and operations management, Paul is a commercial business leader who adopts a pragmatic, hands-on approach. Originally from the Canberra region, much of Paul's experience has been gained throughout many areas of NSW including the New England, Hunter Valley and Southern NSW regions before moving to Ballarat nearly 10 years ago with his wife and family.

    Paul has a degree in Agriculture from the University of Western Sydney, a Masters in Business Administration from the University of New England and more recently has completed the Advanced Management Program through the University of Melbourne's Mt Eliza Business School. Paul is a keen local cricketer and self confessed DIYer and enjoys spending time with his family and staying fit with long distance running.

    Assistant to Chief Operating Officer

    After completing a Bachelor of Management (HR), and spending time living and working abroad, Claire spent eight years in Melbourne working as an Executive Assistant to the CFO of Bunnings Group Limited. She returned with her husband to her home-town of Ballarat in 2009 to start her family, and spent five years as a full-time mum to her two little girls. In 2014, Claire joined BVP in a part-time capacity as Assistant to our Chief Operating Officer, Paul Dempsey.

    Wendy joined the Administration team at BVP in June 2012. Born in Ballarat, Wendy completed her degree in Commerce at the University of Ballarat and went on to work in the Software Development and Agricultural industries. Wendy loves spending time with her young family, holidaying on the Gold coast, and going on walks and bike rides with family and friends.

  20. Brooke HarmesBrooke Harmes

    Brooke is a Ballarat girl, born and bred.
    She lives in town with her partner and son, 2 JRT's and a couple of 2 RSPCA adopted kitty cats. The family is moving out of town next year and hopes to expand the brood with some chickens, ducks and a goat!
    Brooke loves greeting clients and their pets at Howitt St and enjoys following them through their treatments. Her son Ethan loves seeing photos of the different types of pets that come through the clinic each day.

    Erikka joined the BVP team in 2013. Erikka was born in Tasmania and moved to Ballarat with her
    family in 1999.

    Erikka enjoy's traveling over sea's and has recently been to Europe for her honeymoon.

    Erikka's other interests include spending time with her husband Clayton, Reading, movies, food and spending time with friends & Family.

    Erikka and her husband, currently have two fur children at home, Harvey 7yr old Staffy and Archie 7yr old DSH.

    Janelle joined the BVP team in February 2015 and has had a varied employment background, from working in the automotive industry to a completely different direction working in the jewellery industry. She has always had a strong focus on customer service and loves nothing more than greeting clients and their "kids", helping in any way she can to ensure a happy experience. Outside of work, Janelle loves to catch up with friends, read, cook and sew. She also has a crafty side that she enjoys indulging when time allows. Janelle lives with her husband Vin, their two sons Declan and Ronan as well as their furbaby Millie, a 7 year old Staffie X.

  24. Sue PhillipsSue Phillips VN

    Head Nurse.

    When Sue left school in 1994, she went to work at Meredith Dairy where they make cheese and yoghurt from sheep and goat milk. Her neighbour at the time was working at a local vet clinic and got sue her first veterinary nurse job. Sue worked there for 6 months before moving to the Ballarat Veterinary Practice in 2002. She achieved her certificate 4 in veterinary nursing in 2008. Her interests outside of work are numerous. She has a cert 4 in relaxation massage, is involved in a pet minding business, Sue's Petcare, and loves spending time with her husband Stuart. She is training to be a dog show judge and has been showing and breeding pugs since 1993.

  25. Kylie BrittKylie Britt VN

    Kylie started working with the Ballarat Veterinary Practice back in 1989. She has her certificate IV in veterinary nursing and her microchipping certificate. Kylie is the head nurse at the Wendouree clinic and with her wealth of experience is someone whom the younger nurses look up to for support and advice. A lot of Kylie's time is spent in the grooming of clients pets, and she is renowned for wowing the owners with an amazing puppy pooch makeover!! Outside of work Kylie breeds and shows labradors. She has been breeding for approximately 4 years. Kylie attends nurses conferences, is a member of the Veterinary Nurses Association Victoria and Dogs Victoria. In her free time she enjoys the company of her two boys Ashley and Lachlan, her labs Bess and Bella. Her hobbies include scrapbooking and cardmaking. Kylie has the ability to win over the affection of most animals as if they were her own, big or small, cat or dog, and enjoys every aspect of veterinary nursing.

  26. Sarah LoweSarah Lowe VN

    Sarah moved from England to Australia in January of 2010. She had been working as a veterinary nurse in England for many years and became fully qualified in 1996. She is very interested in hand rearing baby animals and passing on her knowledge to the younger nurses in the clinic. She lives in Buninyong with a cheeky little feline called "Agnes". She is taking a while to get used to the climate here in ballarat and enjoys the challenge of learning Australian slang!

  27. Louise McCartinLouise McCartin VN

    Louise initially started at the Miners Rest Equine Clinic in 2006, and moved in to the small animal practice two years later. In the time Louise has been at the small animal practice, she has completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and is now fully qualified. Louise has a special interest in surgery and anaesthesia. In her spare time Louise is kept busy playing netball and spending time with her gorgeous Weimeraner "Ernie" and her hand raised cat "Ginger Meggs".

  28. Tara BoydTara Boyd VN

    Tara joined BVP in March 2011 after moving to Ballarat from her home town Brim in the Wimmera Mallee. Tara grew up on the family farm surrounded by animals, and has had a love of them since she can remember. After completing her VCE, Tara pursued a career in Vet nursing. She spent five years nursing at the Warracknabeal Veterinary Clinic before making the move to Ballarat. Tara is always looking for opportunities to further her knowledge in her chosen profession and has recently completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.

    Tara has a keen interest in animal behaviour, but having the opportunity to nurse patients back to good health is her true passion.

  29. Kirsten BeamesKirsten Beames

    Kirsten joined the Ballarat Veterinary Practice in December 2009 just one week after finishing her year 12 VCE exams at Loreto College. During high school, Kirsten completed her Certificate II in Equine Studies and received an award not only from the school but also from the Vocational Education and Training group of Ballarat. During her time at BVP, Kirsten has developed a keen interest in working with some of the more exotic pets like lizards, snakes, and birds. She also enjoys pathology and is planning to pursue further study in this area. Kirsten has grown up with animals and competes in events with her two horses Chic and Wobble and placed second at the Victorian State Championships in 2010. She also has a Kelpie named Lucy and a cat called Beau who both love cuddles!

  30. Ebony ArmstrongEbony Armstrong

    After volunteering at the RSPCA for two years, Ebony wanted to pursue a career in Vet Nursing. She joined the BVP team in early 2012 and is currently undertaking her study in Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing.

    Since joining the team, Ebony has developed a keen passion for patient care and also assists in hosting our Puppy Pre-School Classes.

    Ebony enjoys spending as much time as she can with her two dogs; Abbey, a Boxer, and Toby, a Maltese Cross.

  31. Sarah PohlnerSarah Pohlner VN

    Sarah is originally from Horsham and has been living in Ballarat for the past 5 years. Sarah has completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing and has been with the clinic since 2011. Sarah has a range of animals, consisting of dogs, cats, chickens and a Quaker parrot. Sarah has also hand raised several lambs, puppies and kittens. Sarah has a special passion for geriatric patients and patients requiring intensive care. Outside of work, Sarah enjoys spending time with her animals and taking the dogs for a run in the paddock.

  32. Chloe MillerChloe Miller

    Chloe first started working at Ballarat Veterinary Practice in April 2013, after moving from Mount Gambier, South Australia. She has always wanted to work as a Veterinary Nurse, this gave her the chance to pursue her career and undertake studying Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing.
    Chloe grew up around animals on her family farm which consists of cattle and sheep. She has always loved working and spending time with animals since from a young age.
    In her spare time, Chloe enjoys travelling and competing in Highland Dancing since she has done from the age of four, which has taken her overseas competing and dancing in the Basel Tattoo in Switzerland in 2011. As well as going back to home catching up with family and friends, and spending time with her pet dog, cat and horses.

  33. Merridy MunnMerridy Munn VN

    Merridy joined Ballarat Veterinary Practice in February 2013 after moving from Melbourne. She became qualified in 2006, then completed her Diploma of Veterinary Nursing (General Practice) in 2012. She has a keen interest in canine behaviour and enjoys the surgical side to nursing.

    Merridy grew up on her family farm in Southern NSW with many kelpies, horses, guinea pigs, and rabbits. She also helped hand-rear orphan kangaroos and lambs. Merridy has two terrier crosses named Ralph & Cleo which were adopted from a shelter.

    Outside of work, she enjoys cycling and water/snow sports with her husband Aaron, and taking the dogs for a run.

  34. Taylor MasonTaylor Mason

    Taylor completed her VCE and initially began a study in a bachelor of health sciences at university, before leaving to pursue a career in veterinary nursing. She began working with BVP in 2014 after completing her nursing placement. She is currently studying a dual qualification of cert III in companion animal services, and cert IV in veterinary nursing, and is due to graduate in 2016. Taylor has grown up on acreage with her many pets including multiple rescue cats, birds, horses and two Great Danes (this number continually growing). Since working at BVP Taylor has taken a keen interest in care of critical cases, and is keen to learn and gain more experience!

    Charlotte completed her certificate IV in vet nursing in 2007 and traveled to the UK where she lived for two and a half years, gaining a lot of experience. After returning to Melbourne for a few years and working in small animal practices, Charlotte has just returned for working in rural WA where she gained the great experience of working for a large mixed animal practice. Outside of work Charlotte enjoys practising yoga and spending time with her dog Freida.

  36. Mikaela MartinMikaela Martin

    Mikaela was born in Ballarat and grew up in Clunes. After completing year 12 she completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2011. Mikaela has been with the BVP team since October 2015 and has a special interest in assisting with surgical procedures and pathology. She currently lives in Ballarat with her partner and their cats and dogs. Mikaela also assists with Puppy Pre-School classes.

  37. Kate FrostKate Frost

    Kate started working at the Ballarat Veterinary Practice in January 2015. She has grown up with many different species of pets and completed a Bachelor degree in Psychological Science which has resulted in a keen interest in animal behaviour. Kate also enjoys hand rearing young animals, having done so with kittens, birds and a lamb. Outside of work Kate is a competitive dressage rider and is passionate about training horses. She is also the proud owner of Rupert the Great Dane and Griffin an orphaned tailless cat.

  38. Sally DeanSally Dean

    Sally was born in Ballarat, and lives locally with her rescue kitten, Gizmo. Sally has a Degree in Nursing, thus has been able to apply her existing skills to Veterinary Nursing. Sally has achieved Certificate II in Animal Studies. She joined the Ballarat Vet Practice team in Feb 2015. Since working at BVP, Sally has had the opportunity to foster surrendered or stray animals back to good health. Her goal is to achieve her qualification in Certificate IV Veterinary Nursing.

  39. Donna SheriffDonna Sheriff

    Donna started with BVP as a placement student in January of 2016, shortly thereafter employed by the practice as a Full Time nurse & will complete her Certificate IV qualification in early 2017.
    She currently lives in Melton with her partner Ken, dog Turbo, cats Sooty & Shifty & blue tongues B1 & B2, with a tree change to the Ballarat area on the cards in the foreseeable future.
    Donna was born in Shepparton and has always had an interest in animals, wanting to be a marine biologist in high school, despite living more than 2 hours away from the closest ocean!
